 Backstage Hair Looks

For Spring 2015, the couture catwalk shows embraced upon Paris where some of the most spectacular pieces were showcased. Carefully selected hairstyles must accompany the couture craftsmanship well so we have rounded up some of our favourite looks from the shows. Despite the extravagant nature of the clothing, the majority of hairstyles are achievable from home so why not try some high fashion looks yourself?

Christian Dior

The muse for the backstage Christian Dior hair looks came from hairstylist Guido Palau and Simons, who together created a unique ponytail style for the couture show. Ornate rings were crafted in diverse colours and looped into the sectioned hair, connecting it with a ponytail of hair extensions. Each set of extensions was carefully selected to match the models exact hair shade and overall, this smooth up-do became one not to be forgotten. 

  

Valentino

Spring was in full bloom over at the Valentino couture show with freshly picked flowers intertwining a twisted hairstyle. Nothing was too neat and the romantic feel of the entire collection was also apparent with hair and beauty backstage. The flower crown was propped and pinned ever so gently with flyaway hair escaping amongst each blossom, creating a natural, earth-like effect. Take some tips from the catwalk by picking your own flowers and weaving them into loose plaits or a rolled up-do. 

Atelier Versace

Laid back tousled locks made their mark on the runway at the Versace couture show with each model sporting their natural hair looks - waves were left as waves and straight locks were also untouched. Individual personality and beauty was emphasised by models’ hair in original glory with only a small amount of texture added by Redken finishing spray. Despite minimal styling, looks still remained fierce portraying a running theme of female empowerment throughout the entire collection.

Armani Privé

The highly sought after, sleek ponytail also made an appearance on the Armani Privé catwalk thanks to hairstylist Odile Gilbert. Constructed with ‘lots of gel and hairspray’, this low ponytail was finely combed into place from a middle part section and carefully tucked behind the ears. The dangling strands of hair were then tied together with ribbon into multiple sections for a textured finish. 

Elie Saab

The hair look at Elie Saab emulated the striking runway pieces combining both a decorative and elegant feel. Curated by Orlando Pita, hair was styled in a side part and moulded into luscious waves but not as rigid as this decadent style can sometimes be. There also seemed to be much more of a wave to the front rather than the back, where tousled strands were left to gracefully hang. Set in place using pins, these romantic curls look subtle yet effective alongside the rest of the collection. 

Chanel

Both Karl Lagerfeld and hairstyling genius Sam McKnight conducted Chanel’s flower party for the couture catwalk, with models embracing the great outdoors this season. A single loose plait was created to imitate a simple, windswept style and completed with a floral band for a youthful feel. Hair pieces fell from the braid in all directions, yet frizz was controlled with the expert use of Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. Headpieces and veils were also amongst accessories on the runway, instilling an element of drama into the otherwise playful collection.
